Healthwatch Tower Hamlets report on findings from a wider survey about housing.  316 people responded to the survey.

26% aid housing Fully or Mostly supports the needs of the community, however, a quarter said Not so much or Not at all.

When compared by ethnicity, people from Bangladeshi backgrounds were most likely to comment on the poor condition of housing whereas people from White British and White: Other White backgrounds said there was a lack of affordable housing in the borough.

People talked about:

A lack of affordable and suitable housing, especially housing for larger families (3+ bedrooms) and overcrowding 

Poor condition of social housing with no working lift, leaks, blocked pipes, poor insulation, mould and dampness, cladding issues and general disrepair 

Poor energy efficiency leading to higher heating costs 

Poor service from housing management companies with a lack of maintenance and long wait times for repairs 

A lack of facilities such as green space, bike lockers, large communal bins 

A lack of accommodation for disabled people and more accessible housing for wheelchair users 

A lack of accommodation for the homeless
