Healthwatch Oldham wanted to understand people’s experiences of digital healthcare in the light of increasing use of digital solutions for healthcare. They undertook a survey to which 76 people responded.
Most people used a smartphone to support their health and well being. They used it to order repeat prescriptions, using Patient Access, meditation support and other means of tracking their wellbeing. Over 4 in 5 had not had a digital appointment for healthcare and nearly 3 in 5 didn’t use Patient Access. Over 4 in 5 had used nhs.uk to check symptoms and find out general health information. Nearly a quarter had concerns about the use of technology in supporting their health and well being – mainly due to concerns about data protection.
