Healthwatch Slough gather information on people’s experiences of health and social care services and there are times when it is appropriate for Healthwatch Slough to see and hear for themselves how services are being delivered: these visits are called ‘Enter and View’, they are not inspections.
Healthwatch Slough visited Murdoch House Care Home on 16 December 2015.
The key findings highlighted areas in relation to patient feedback, staff feedback and observation. The findings inform that Murdoch House provides a good quality of care to its residents activity coordinator ensured that group social activities were provided; residents were able to exercise choice around attending various events. Nutrition is well maintained with direct support to those with eating and drinking difficulties is given. Healthwatch Slough felt that Murdoch House had a caring atmosphere which makes up for the lack of space.
The report contains 2 recommendations whist there are 2 rooms with a shower and 1 one with a bath, Healthwatch Slough recommend Four Seasons consider upgrading more of the en-suites to include showering facilities. The Rose Street Pharmacy, Wokingham Medical Centre and Murdoch House, as an integrated team, examine the working practices in managing repeat medicines and supply and administrations.
