Summary of report content

Healthwatch Wiltshire conducted a survey with 16 people during June 2019 to March 2020 to gather their experiences of the safeguarding process.

The report found that the majority of people were aware of the process and were kept informed. Nine (out of 15) people said that they felt supported and involved through the process. Most (10 out of 14) said that they found the staff polite, professional and approachable. The experience of information provision was mixed with some people stating they received no information or that it was not understandable. There was a need for better communication, particularly around the outcome of the investigation. Some people said they felt dismissed when raising concerns and that information wasn’t recorded correctly. Some also brought up the need for social workers to take more time to build up relationships and improve advocacy support.

The report made a number of recommendations and included an action plan from the Adult Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub.
