Summary of report content

Healthwatch Kent undertook research into the experiences regarding respect of young people that identify as LGBTQ+. To do this, they visited the Be You’s Big Day Out event in September 2023 and received 23 responses to their questions. They spoke to people between the ages of 13 and 17.

Summary of Findings

40% of respondents said they feel the least respected at home, with 15% saying that they felt the most respected at home.

40% of respondents said they felt the least respected at school, with 23% saying they felt the most respected at school.

40% of respondents said they felt the least respected by their family, with 8% saying that family makes them feel the most respected.

38% of respondents said they feel the most respected by their friends.
