Summary of report content

Between January 2024 and November 2025, Healthwatch Medway spoke to 799 residents across Medway to understand how wider social issues affect health and wellbeing. This report focuses on the 146 individuals who, unprompted, told us their experiences accessing local transport.

68% of feedback was negative, particularly about public transport. 64% spoke about bus transport. 80% was negative. 34% of people who talked about the bus service mentioned issues with reliability and punctuality, with some mentioning it impacting their ability to attend school/work/health appointments on time.

18% spoke about road travel.  All of this feedback was negative. 15% mentioned affordability, in terms of taxi use and parking costs.

14% spoke about train services. 67% of this feedback was positive, with many residents commenting on train links to London.
