Summary of report content

Healthwatch Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool, Cumbria and Lancashire worked on a survey together to find out how people of Cumbria and Lancashire were coping with the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. They looked at the feedback received from the coronavirus survey during 4th to 15th April 2020.

They received 58 responses, majority of which were from Cumbria. The results found start almost everyone was feeling the practical, emotional and social impact of being in lockdown. Certain issues were highlighted where people were struggling with mental health, financial worries, supporting vulnerable people, and impact on those with existing medical conditions or pregnancy. The biggest concern of people included health of family and friends, their own health, the financial impact on themselves and in general, their mental health and how life will get back to normal when the lockdown is lifted. People said they missed physical contact with friends and family and restricted movements had impact on their lives. Most people we're managing to look after the physical help but found it more challenging to take care of their emotional and mental health. People suggested ways which would help them cope better and felt that too much information was available which was not always helpful.

Healthwatch made three recommendations on how they will work together to capture more information and produce a report about their findings.
