In December 2017 Healthwatch Liverpool and Healthwatch Knowsley visited The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust to speak with patients and families to find out what they thought was good, and what could be improved about the service.
Patients were asked questions that had been jointly agreed between Healthwatch and The Walton Centre: what they thought worked well, what improvements they would like to see, whether they felt well informed regarding appointments and medical conditions and whether staff members introduced themselves. Healthwatch also explored opinions on dignity and respect and asked patients to rate the service.
During the event, Healthwatch staff visited the wards and spoke with 38 patients, the majority of whom reported excellent patient experience. Patients were reported to be very happy with the services provided at the Trust and over two thirds gave it top marks with a rating of five out of five stars. The few issues raised related to communication, pain medication and food.
All feedback has been shared with The Trust and commissioners.
