Summary of report content

Healthwatch Luton undertook research into the needs of people with personality disorders after individuals contacted them to say that they felt unsupported by the local mental health provider.  They spoke to 5 people

They found that people with personality disorders felt unsupported in the community.  They were not engaging with the local provider, but were engaging with other organisations at a prolific rate.  They had been discharged by the provider for not engaging with them.

There was a lack of coordination of care and support for people with personality disorders.  Safeguarding issues raised by this group were not always actioned by the provider.

There was one recommendation about the need for a discussion between the provider and commissioners about the need to better support people with personality disorders locally.
