Summary of report content

Healthwatch Brighton and Hove were one of 10 local Healthwatch who were commissioned by Healthwatch England to enhance their understanding of Trans and Non-binary experiences of GP care. They 34 responses to this survey, and though the feedback does highlight some areas of concern, there were many positive findings too.

In summary, GP support for gender and other care was good overall, but a significant minority thought less so. More respect was thought to be shown by GPs, Practice Nurses and receptionists, compared to Pharmacists and Practice Managers. Again, accessing HRT was not problematic for most, although some had a more negative experience. Continuing this theme of mixed experiences, waiting times to change their gender marker varied considerably with some waiting up to 2 years.
