Summary of report content

Healthwatch Swindon designed conducted a survey gathering 78 people’s views about oral health and going to the dentist in Sep 2017. One area of focus was ‘infections in the mouth which can be linked with problems in other parts of the body.

Just over half the people surveyed said that oral health was very important to them and that they go to an NHS dentist. A third of those surveyed said they go to a private dentist.

More than not the people surveyed said that they have had a good experience of going to the dentist. Nearly all those surveyed said that they would recommend their dentist to a friend or family member.

Some general themes identified include that people would like to see an improved environment at their dentist in the waiting and clinical areas of the building(s) as well as a focus to improve information provided around prevention and education.
