Healthwatch Camden undertook research into help for victims of domestic abuse. They spoke to 15 women about their experiences, including of services.
The report sets out the impact of domestic and emotional abuse on victims, children and the particular impact on people from ethnic minority communities.
There were plenty of services that people can get help from, but for many it took a long time before they felt able to access them.
People who sought help from primary care had mixed experiences. Lack of alternative housing prevented some from leaving their abuser. Those women who reported their experience to the police found a general lack of awareness and empathy about the different types of abuse. Survivors felt that courts were not set up to support victims.
The report has 15 recommendations.
