Summary of report content

Healthwatch Essex wanted to explore hospital staff experiences of participatory service improvement methods as there was a lack of research on this topic.  They conducted interviews with six staff from one hospital trust.

The participants provided highly valuable reflections on how co-production could be better understood within the Trust. They also suggested several ways in which staff could be supported by their managers and the wider organisation to engage in co-production as a method for service improvement. These insights are summarised in recommendations about learning about co production and supporting staff to get involved in co-production.
