Healthwatch Coventry published a report summarising findings and recommendations from a number of pieces of work. It provides links to relevant Healthwatch England work and also draws on their ongoing intelligence themes.
The paper is for the purpose of informing work to produce the strategy for the local Integrated Care System – the Integrated care Strategy.
It is a follow-up report on the one Healthwatch Coventry published in 2019. The report draws on data from general feedback and focus groups.
The report talks about what people want from care and focuses on digital exclusion and inclusion, access to services, understanding and navigating NHS services, mental health services, NHS dentistry, and care homes and residents’ health.
Among the key findings, the call to action raised as part of the 2019 report remains relevant:
- People continue to be concerned about waiting times to access NHS services, such as GP services, hospital referrals and treatment, and mental health services
- Access to transport to appointments remains a barrier for many local people, due to cost and availability
- Information provided does not meet patients’ needs, because it is either not the right information or not accessible
- There is still a demand and supply issue when it comes to mental health support.
However, there have been some moves towards more person centred approaches.
