Healthwatch Reading held a question and answer public event for the local Kenyan community with speakers including the local public health director and a biomedical scientist on 14 March 2021.
The session started with a brief history of vaccination, how vaccines work and why they are important for people in minority ethnic communities.
Questions asked included why Covid-19 vaccines have been developed so quickly, why Covid-19 didn’t appear to have affected Black people in Africa as badly as it has in the UK, the frequency of booster vaccinations, the safety of vaccines, whether vaccines will be compulsory and how community leaders can tackle misinformation.
