Summary of report content

Healthwatch Brent undertook a review of various care schemes in Brent to look at how they were coping with the challenges of the pandemic.  They spoke to those care providers where previous Enter and View visits before the pandemic had indicated excellent quality of service and management.  The seven selected schemes had very low or no deaths from Covid-19 and they were keen to understand why.

They discovered that there were 5 key ingredients for success:

  • Highly supportive managers for both residents and staff
  • Excellent understanding of the residents
  • Good staff training practices
  • Excellent communications
  • Managers who go above and beyond for their residents
