Summary of report content

Healthwatch Reading conducted an engagement project between September 2018 and February 2020 with people 279 people aged 16 and over who were studying at University or college to understand their awareness off local health and wellbeing services.

The report found that while awareness of most services did improve from first-year levels, over time, there were still worrying gaps, with fewer than 50% of students in both groups not knowing where to find Reading’s NHS sexual health clinic and fewer than 40% of both groups unaware of how to get help for serious mental health conditions. For both sets of students, coping with stress and worries remained their top health concern.

5 recommendations were made in the report including commissioning a student health working group.
