Summary of report content

Healthwatch West Sussex undertook a poll on the impact of noise on people's health and wellbeing.  50 people completed the survey between 12 December 2023 and 31 January 2024.

Three quarters felt that levels of noise are affecting their health and wellbeing.  People described environmental noise, travel, home environement and social activities were the main causes.

Noise affected people's health conditions, memory, hearing and made them feel stressed, depressed or frustrated.

Since the COVID pandemic more people have remained working from home. They are finding the environment much noisier, affecting the person and work.

Some respondents shared their observations of how society has become noisier. Such as people shouting at each other, competing to be heard over multiple noises which is stopping some people wanting to go out.
