Healthwatch Lincolnshire undertook research on social care in Lincolnshire using intelligence they gathered in 2021-2022. During this period they received 56 pieces of feedback on social care.
Of these comments, 68% were negative and just 4% were positive.
For almost half (46%) of respondents, poor communication was a concern, with information not being shared between services, consent not being sought, and information not being in an accessible format, among other things.
Over a third of respondents said there was a lack of support when facing long waits, for example for specialist support, for care assessments to be conducted, and for care plans to be implemented.
The same amount of people raised issues about poor quality care, especially regarding domiciliary care, with comments mentioning carers not turning up, not doing the contracted tasks, or behaving unprofessionally.
Other reasons people contacted Healthwatch Lincolnshire about social care were queries related to signposting and financial issues.
The report has been shared with Lincolnshire County Council, which welcomed the feedback and will use the report to help expand on existing work to manage challenges around delivery of care to people in their own homes.
