Summary of report content

Healthwatch Norfolk undertook research on patients’ experiences of care at Sheringham Medical Practice. In October 2026, Healthwatch visited the practice and collected feedback from 17 patients, with reviews achieving an average rating of 4.4 out of 5. The practice serves approximately 9,500 registered patients and offers services including mental health support, social prescribing, physiotherapy, family planning, health screening and vaccinations.

Overall, patients were very positive about the practice and frequently praised staff for being friendly, helpful and supportive. Many reported being able to access appointments without long waits and highlighted the efficiency of vaccination clinics, responsive reception staff and the practice’s 24-hour prescription collection service. Patients said they felt well looked after and valued the professionalism and competence of both clinical and non-clinical staff.

Several patients commented favourably on appointment booking systems, prompt responses to enquiries and the availability of nurse practitioners. However, some concerns were raised about continuity of care, with patients reporting that they often saw different clinicians and received inconsistent advice. A small number also highlighted difficulties for people who are less confident using digital systems, long waits for some appointments, and frustration when expected face-to-face appointments were changed to telephone consultations.

Healthwatch concluded that patients were generally very satisfied with the service provided by Sheringham Medical Practice. Key strengths included staff support, appointment access, vaccination services and the dispensing system, while areas for improvement related to continuity of care, appointment arrangements and ensuring services remain accessible for patients who find digital systems challenging.
