Healthwatch Manchester was commissioned by NHS Greater Manchester to undertake two reviews of the enhanced access scheme for GPs. In this report, they review information on 83 GP websites across Manchester to assess the ease of navigation to information about the extended access scheme (EAS).
Less than a quarter of GP practice websites directly referenced the EAS in its current form. Three in ten didn't mention the EAS or any previously named service.
Half of GP practice websites which mentioned the EAS or a service similar to this did not give details about the hours and days of the week that this service is offered. Two thirds of GP practice websites which mentioned the EAS or a service similar to this did not provide details about the appointment time. Nearly three in five GP practice websites who mentioned the EAS or a service similar to this did not provide details about the method of appointment.
The majority of GP practice websites who mentioned the EAS or a similar service provided this information in an accessible format.
The report contains two recommendations about the content of GP practice websites in connection with the EAS.
