On 13th February 2014, Healthwatch Newham undertook a user engagement along with North East London public pharmacy partnership to find out what local residents’ views were about what a pharmacy should be and how they can help in improving the health and wellbeing of the local residents.
Two workshops were held to find out how they can create a culture where the public are aware of an utilise fully the range of services available from their local communities pharmacy now and in the future; how a pharmacist can provide service competently and how does the public expect pharmacists to work together with GPs, hospitals, community nurses and care homes to improve health outcomes. The second workshop discussed how they could Commission services from community pharmacy and maximise the potential to support patients to get more of their medicines; how they can better integrate community pharmacy services into the patient care pathway and how collaborations on a population basis can support the delivery of better outcomes.
