Summary of report content

Healthwatch Coventry sits on the primary care quality group of the Coventry Health and Wellbeing Board. Healthwatch undertook this review of patient information about GP services in order to provide evidence regarding the current nature of information provision to inform this group.

Another aim was to identify good practice, which could be shared and stimulate thinking about solutions to challenges identified.

Using a list of GP practices in Coventry registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), supplied by the CQC, we used the Google search engine to search for web based information about individual practices on their own websites and the NHS Choices website.

We followed this work by visiting the GP practices in Coventry  to collect GP practice leaflets. We carried this out as a mystery shopping exercise.

As a result we made 8 recommendations for action.
