Healthwatch Wakefield reviewed their feedback received during 2021 about access to dentists. During this period they received 76 pieces of feedback.
Over three quarters of the feedback they received was negative in sentiment. People weren’t able to register themselves or their children with dentists and some couldn’t get emergency treatment. Some GPs won’t prescribe antibiotics for dental issues. The impact on patients is that they are left in pain. Some dentists are taking on private patients, but some people can’t afford to pay for private treatment.
Positive feedback included good experiences of treatment and helpful staff. People who were able to get treatment during the pandemic felt safe.
