Summary of report content

This is a report which was written by Healthwatch Bolton after the Healthwatch Bolton Forum on 14th March 2017 containing people's views on health related peer support groups.

The forum was held as a result of some neighbourhood engagement work which was carried out by Healthwatch Bolton in February 2017 which explored different kinds of clinical and non-clinical support people might like to see attached to their GP/primary care services and it was identified that this may be best answered by either ‘group consultation’ or ‘peer to peer type of support’.

There were 42 people present who shared their views about peer to peer types of support and within this, there were general public, representatives and members of different groups present.

The report contains people’s views on peer to peer support groups with participant’s giving overwhelmingly positive views and experiences about them.

After the event, Healthwatch Bolton listed 4 recommendations in the report.
