Healthwatch North and West Northamptonshire undertook a survey on transport to appointments after hearing from the public that this was a problem for them. They undertook a survey to which 18 people responded.
Key findings:
low use of community transport schemes correlated with low awareness of these services
On average people were travelling 11 miles to appointments, with an average cost of £13.
Under half had missed a medical appointment due to issues with transport, including long waits and delays from non-emergency patient transport.
The report has two recommendations.
