Summary of report content

Healthwatch Brighton and Hove used surveys to gather feedback from 91 local residents about their experiences receiving marketing promoting an online pharmacy, using this new service and how it compared to their experience using their local pharmacy.

The report found that those who had received online pharmacy marketing, remembered seeing an NHS logo which they felt made it feel more genuine. Only 5% signed up to the service, as the respondents were happy with their current service or were suspicious of the company. The respondents reported that the online pharmacy advertising was confusing. Most people were satisfied with their local pharmacy and its location was convenient for them.

Despite these findings, Healthwatch Brighton and Hove have highlighted that only three people reported using an online pharmacy service. There were mixed reports from these users but the small number of cases meant we were unable to draw firm conclusions on performance.
