Summary of report content

Healthwatch York contacted 39 dental practices (Appendix 1) across the city and conducted a semi-structured interview by telephone in May and June 2021.

No practice in York was currently accepting new NHS adult patients. One practice was able to offer NHS treatment to the children of patients enrolled on their private care plan.

Of 39 practices in York, 8 reported that they were currently treating existing NHS patients for routine dental treatment. Waiting times varied from ‘less than one month’ to ‘more than 12 months’, with most practices (50%) having awaiting time of between 3 and 6 months.
