Summary of report content

Healthwatch Wakefield report on key themes in the feedback they received during the period January to June 2015.

Healthwatch Wakefield heard many compliments about good, efficient care and helpful, professional staff at the hospital, care homes and GPs.

Concerns included:

  • Access – including for social care assessments, GP appointments, routine surgeries at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust and mental health support for children and young people
  • Clinical care / treatment – mainly from Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust and South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust patient experience reports
  • Discharge from hospital and integrated care – issues related to delayed letters, delayed medication, quality of discharge planning, unclear information about patient aftercare, services promised but not delivered
  • Poor staff attitudes and patient care – across all services but offset by many compliments as well.
