Summary of report content

Healthwatch West Berkshire undertook research with people who live on canal boats to understand the problems they faced in accessing healthcare.  They spoke to 23 people.

People who live on canal boats experience a number of barriers to accessing healthcare, including not being able to register with GPs due to lack of ID or proof of address, finding it difficult to use digital services for appointments, fearing discrimination from healthcare providers and financial and geographic constraints.

Only two of those interviewed felt their healthcare needs were being met.
