Healthwatch Hull, Healthwatch North Yorkshire and Healthwatch York analysed their feedback about migrants' experience of healthcare. The report is divided into feedback by Healthwatch area.
Healthwatch York identified the following issues:
- Access to NHS dentistry
- A lack of interpreters for GP appointments
- Feeling discriminated against when seeking hospital care
- Hearing from hospital staff about the problems they have engaging with asylum seeker children
- Transport to chemotherapy
Healthwatch North Yorkshire identified:
- People returning to home countries for healthcare due to long waits in the UK
- Language barriers to appointments
- A lack of trust and understanding
- Uncertainty about which vaccines are needed and unwillingness to be vaccinated if they are healthy
- Side effects of vaccines
- Information about vaccines not being in the right language
