Summary of report content

Healthwatch Devon carried out conducted a survey and supported 5 workshops to obtain people’s views on new proposals for community opportunities. They recorded the views of 206 respondents. The feedback received was used to inform the drafting of service specifications.

There were a number of different themes that emerged from the views of the respondents. 73% of respondents wanted greater choice in adult mental health services. There was an acknowledgement that people appreciated current services that were available. The majority of respondents indicated that they wanted services to be available all the time, but recognised that this was not viable. Respondents also signalled that current mental health services are too complicated and support to better navigate this would be helpful. Other themes that emerged included the need for support to access services and the consideration of linking up with other community provision.

The report did not make any recommendations.
