Summary of report content

Healthwatch North Yorkshire and Healthwatch York wanted to understand the likely impact of the introduction of mandatory Covid-19 vaccinations for care home staff and volunteers.  They spoke to 16 homes across the area.

The responses they gathered indicated an ambivalence amongst the sector, with those that welcome it on one side, whilst a greater number who are worried about its impact and to some extent angry at the policy. Healthwatch heard of the fear that this new legislation will have significant impact on the ability of the sector to recruit, a situation that is already difficult. People also felt that the legislation is unfair in its application as it is didn’t not apply to health workers at the time the research was carried out.
