Summary of report content

In February 2024, Healthwatch Thurrock were commissioned by TSAB (Thurrock’s Safeguarding Adults Board) to work towards the production of an independent report based on whether people felt their involvement with Thurrock’s safeguarding team was personalised to their own individual needs and requested outcomes.

The report explores the real-life experiences of individuals and their families who have navigated the safeguarding process. While many directly involved felt safe and included in decisions about their care, the perspectives of family members and carers reveal a more complex picture, with concerns raised about communication and involvement, especially when individuals have cognitive impairments.
