Summary of report content

Healthwatch Bolton worked in partnership with Bolton Public Health and Bolton University to collect feedback about how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting everyday lives. Using a survey and social media feedback, 69 people's views were collected.

The report found that the Coronavirus information is ambiguous and that people are having to "use their common sense" to keep themselves and their families safe. Respondents would like to see more localised information and for information to be available in alternative formats to internet based. There are concerns that for those who cannot or do not access the internet or social media, are missing out on key information. It was suggested that infogaphics would be useful to simplify complex information.

Healthwatch Bolton recommended that the Bolton Council and Bolton CCG produce more localised information. Information needs to be produced in several different formats to make it accessible for all. Bolton Local Authority and Bolton CCG should make more use of local and community radio stations, Bolton CVS, UCAN Centres and faith communities to reach people who are not digitally engaged. There should be a dedicated number and/or website page where people can obtain answers to Frequently Asked Questions.
