Healthwatch Knowsley, Healthwatch Liverpool and Healthwatch Sefton visited three hospitals run the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in May 2022 to listen to patients, family members and staff. They spoke to 98 people.
Key issues raised by patients and families included:
- Staff being very helpful and professional
- The impact of the pandemic has been felt by some in relation to the quality of care and waiting lists
- Waiting times and cancellations
- Communication and language barriers remain an issue
- Food could be improved
- Parking and access could be improved
Staff raised concerns about the attitude of management, lack of wheelchairs at the main entrance, an increase in the number of people arriving at the hospital in need of mental health support and visiting hours to return to normal.
