Summary of report content

Healthwatch Norfolk undertook research on patients’ experiences of care at Lionwood Medical Practice in Norwich. In October 2026, Healthwatch visited the practice and collected feedback from 12 patients, with reviews achieving an average rating of 4.5 out of 5. The practice serves approximately 15,000 registered patients and provides services including spirometry, minor surgery and contraceptive services.

Overall, feedback was very positive, with patients praising staff for being friendly, kind and helpful. Many reported good communication, timely appointments, effective reminders and follow-up, and positive experiences using the practice’s online forms. Several patients also welcomed the recent removal of the AI telephone triage system, stating that the return to a staffed telephone service and callback system had improved access.

Patients highlighted easy access to appointments, responsive reception staff and prompt referrals as key strengths. The practice environment was described as bright, spacious and accessible, with Healthwatch observing clear appointment systems and ample waiting room seating. Many respondents said appointments ran on time and that clinicians were informative and supportive.

Some concerns were raised about limited parking, occasional difficulties obtaining appointments, delays in referrals or follow-up, and problems with check-in systems. A small number of patients also expressed frustration about telephone consultations, communication regarding test results, and not always seeing a doctor directly. Despite these concerns, the overall feedback indicated that Lionwood Medical Practice was highly regarded by patients and provided a positive experience of care.
