Healthwatch Isle of Wight published an analysis of their insight about access to vitamin B12 injections during the Covid-19 pandemic. During the period 1 May to 9 June 2020, they received 34 pieces of feedback on this subject.
They found that there is an inconsistent approach from local GP practices in relation to the administration of B12 injections. Some people have been advised to purchase tablets in place of their B12 injections, but were not given any information about dosage or frequency. People who are taking tablets report worrying symptoms, including lethargy, confusion and hair loss. Lack of consistent communication from primary care staff is causing anxiety and confusion. Some people feel that their symptoms are not being taken seriously enough.
