Healthwatch Greenwich undertook online engagement with people whose relatives lived in care homes to find out their concerns. They spoke to 12 people.
The report considers five issues. People were grateful for the dedication of care home staff in looking after their loved ones and ensuring that they could keep in touch. They were concerned whether the care homes had taken sufficient precautions to prevent their relatives from catching Covid-19. People were concerned that the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust were discharging patients back to care homes without testing. People had no means of raising concerns with care home staff and management because all resident/relative meetings were cancelled. They felt that these meetings could be reinstated using video conferencing. Finally, relatives wanted to know when they could visit their loved ones again safely.
