Summary of report content

In May 2017, Healthwatch Somerset held an information and engagement stand at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton to raise awareness of its work and gather feedback about local health and social care services. Healthwatch staff and volunteers spoke with patients, visitors and members of the public and distributed information about how people can share their experiences of care.

Feedback included positive experiences of cancer services at the Beacon Centre, alongside concerns about mental health support, hospital parking charges, cleanliness on wards, stroke diagnosis and the treatment of patients on Dunkery Ward. Several participants described concerns about dignity, infection control and support for families during hospital stays. The findings were included in Healthwatch Somerset's quarterly reporting to local health and care organisations.
