Impact report: Changes to accessing GP practices in Birmingham May 2023

This report details the impact that Healthwatch Birmingham’s research into access to GP services in Birmingham has had. Their initial research identified variations in access to primary care across Birmingham, including people’s ability to get an appointment, get a face-to-face appointment, and find up-to-date information about how to access services. In response to Healthwatch’s feedback, NHS Birmingham and Solihull have reported improvements around timely access to appointments, consultations, and treatment; access to a range of appointment types and new ways to book appointments; improved patient information around primary care; recruiting additional patient-facing staff; and improved feedback systems.
