Healthwatch Kingston Upon Thames undertook a service user review of the iCope Kingston Psychological Therapies Service which is available for people registered with a GP in the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames.
The survey was closed in October 2019. Progress on the reporting of the project was hampered for a number of reasons, including the onset of the pandemic. To bring the document up to date, they have included a provider update as part of the report.
A total of 49 participants took part in the survey, with 36% of participants stating that they receive benefit from the service and a further 22% stating they received some benefit. This means that 42% of participants perceived that they had no benefit.
When therapy worked well, participants were delighted with the iCope Kingston service, treatment and the choice of therapist. Respondents suggested that literature, guidance, and advice would be useful for those providing support for loved ones suffering from depression or anxiety.
Respondents felt there could be more support overall, and concerns were raised about the environment and the friendliness of administrative staff.
A number of recommendations were made in the report.
