Summary of report content

Healthwatch Norfolk visited Hemsby Medical Centre in July 2026 and gathered feedback from 23 patients. Overall, feedback was positive, with an average rating of 4.4 out of 5. Many patients described the service as friendly, helpful and reliable, praising both clinical staff and the dispensary service. The practice, part of Coastal Village Surgeries, was noted to be clean and welcoming, with relevant information available in the waiting area.

The strongest positive theme was staff attitude and quality of care. Patients frequently described staff as friendly, supportive and approachable, and several reported being able to get appointments when needed. The dispensary service received particularly positive feedback, with patients praising its reliability and delivery service. Some also felt the service had improved since the pandemic and appreciated features such as the callback system.

The main concerns related to appointment access, continuity of care and parking. Some patients reported that getting an appointment could be unpredictable, while others highlighted long waits on the telephone. Several respondents said they rarely saw the same GP twice and felt continuity of care had declined. Parking was another issue, with no dedicated patient car park and limited on-street parking near the surgery.

Overall, patients were generally satisfied with the service they received and spoke positively about the professionalism and friendliness of staff. The report highlighted appointment access, continuity with the same doctor and parking as the main areas affecting patient experience, while the practice welcomed the feedback and reaffirmed its commitment to providing high-quality care for its 17,000-plus registered patients.
