Summary of report content

Healthwatch East Sussex undertook a survey to capture a snapshot of people’s experiences, both positive and negative, so they could share their findings with service providers and partners across East Sussex to inform the COVID-19 response, and also identify any longer-term effects resulting from the crisis.

They found that most people felt anxious about the future and becoming seriously ill with Covid-19; they were less physically active than before; many of those who had concerns about their emotional or physical wellbeing hadn’t sought any support or help; people were impacted by the changes or disruption to their health services or treatment; they were mostly confident about accessing health or care services for any treatment or worries that are not related to Covid; most commonly stated source of information was the Government’s daily TV briefing; most common issue they wanted clearer information about was related to social distancing, self-isolation and shielding; most were confident about their knowledge of Covid symptoms and knew what to do if they or members of their household experienced symptoms of COVID-19.
