This is Healthwatch Rochdale’s Annual Report for 2019-2020. Their annual work was shaped by the concerns that local people had raised with Healthwatch across the Rochdale borough. Their analysis of local priorities had put improvements to primary care and adult social care at the top of the list for the year. The projects undertaken by Healthwatch Rochdale was built upon their day-to-day activities which included visiting health and social care services and engaging local people at events and in public spaces to gather their views.
Healthwatch Rochdale had 14 volunteers to help them carry out their work and they employed 4 staff, two of whom worked full time. When it came to providing support, 370 people shared their health and social care story with them, and 1,213 people were given information and signposting advice about local support and services. They reached out to 4,334 people via their website social media and community outreach programmes. They also published 8 Enter and View reports and made 32 recommendations for improvement.
Healthwatch Rochdale also worked with other local Healthwatch partners on the NHS Long Term Plan. Through their campaigns, they found that the top three issues people wanted the services to focus on were easier access to GPs, not to be digitally excluded and quicker access to diagnosis and support. They also worked in partnership with Hopwood Hall media students to raise awareness about the services they provide to the community.
The report also contains a message from the chief executive officer of Healthwatch Rochdale about what their plans are over the next 3 years.
