Summary of report content

The primary aim of this evaluation was for Healthwatch Wirral to seek assurance that Wirral patients benefit from plans made by Primary Care Networks using the NHS Primary Care Access Recovery Plan model through a variety of offers while moving toward becoming a Modern General Practice. They spoke to 4,873 people.

The following key themes were identified:

  • Challenges with access and booking appointments
  • Digital tools and inclusion
  • Awareness and use of enhanced access
  • Care navigation and reception support
  • Understanding of other roles in GP practices
  • Reception and staff interaction
  • Patient preferences and experiences
  • Why people go to A&E rather than visit their GP
