Healthwatch Sandwell wanted to find out people's preferences in relation to GP opening times and booking preferences. They undertook a survey to which 62 people responded.
it was identified that GP opening and booking preferences is a complex area, and it is difficult to obtain meaningful evidence. The complexity arises from the multiple factors and options, and their many combinations e.g. patient condition, opening times, booking methods. Therefore, the real public need is unlikely to be resolved by simple centralised policies. Overall people wanted varied access to GP appointments, including walk in and telephone/online appointments rather than weekend opening.
