Healthwatch Norfolk visited Gayton Road Health Centre in King’s Lynn during July 2026 to gather patient feedback about local primary care services. Twenty-five patient reviews were collected, producing an average rating of 4 out of 5. Patients generally spoke positively about the service, particularly the friendliness, professionalism and helpfulness of staff. Many respondents praised clinicians and nurses for listening carefully, explaining conditions and treatments clearly, and providing compassionate care. Healthwatch staff also observed a welcoming environment, accessible facilities, good signage and positive interactions between reception staff and patients.
Many patients reported being able to access appointments when needed and appreciated features such as the callback system, online registration process and the ability to use alternative sites within the wider healthcare group. Patients frequently described staff as kind, knowledgeable and efficient, with several highlighting excellent continuity of care when able to see familiar clinicians. Nurses in particular received consistently positive feedback for their communication skills and patient-centred approach.
However, experiences of access were mixed. A recurring concern was difficulty securing appointments, with some patients reporting long telephone queues, limited availability and the need to call at specific times to obtain same-day appointments. A small number of respondents also raised concerns about communication regarding test results, delays in receiving paperwork, inconsistent experiences with different doctors and difficulties understanding appointment processes. One patient described feeling unsupported in relation to chronic pain management and medication concerns.
Overall, the feedback presents a largely positive picture of a surgery with caring and professional staff, but where some patients continue to experience challenges accessing appointments and navigating aspects of the system. Healthwatch concluded that while many patients were highly satisfied with the care received, addressing concerns around appointment availability, communication and continuity of care would further improve patient experience.
