Summary of report content

This report by Healthwatch Lancashire summarises feedback from 79 service users about services at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust between March and July 2015.

Overall, the report highlights that patient feedback was generally positive, with most aspects of care rated between “good” and “excellent” across both Clifton Hospital and Blackpool Victoria Hospital. Service users particularly valued the quality of treatment, caring and compassionate staff, and the standard of medical care provided.

At Clifton Hospital, 35 respondents reported very high satisfaction levels, with the quality of treatment and medical care both receiving scores of 4.7 out of 5, and food, information, and ease of getting an appointment also rated highly. However, the building and environment received the lowest score, indicating some concerns about facilities.

At Blackpool Victoria Hospital, feedback from 44 respondents was also positive, although slightly lower overall than Clifton Hospital. The quality of treatment, caring staff, and access to appointments were rated well, while waiting times received the lowest score, suggesting this was a key area for improvement.

Across both hospitals, monthly ratings remained consistently high, showing stable patient satisfaction over the five-month period. However, the number of responses varied each month, and some questions had limited responses, which may affect the reliability of certain averages.
