Healthwatch Calderdale decided to undertake research into the health and social care problems of people with hyper-mobility syndromes after hearing that their experiences of health and care were particularly poor. They ran focus groups and a survey, speaking to 183 people in total.
The research looked at difficulties in getting a complete diagnosis, referrals and waiting times, communication between health professionals, their lack of knowledge about these conditions. People with hyper mobility syndromes shared ideas of what would make health and care better for them, and how their health condition impacted on their quality of life.
